Bansko in Summer — My Favourite Ideas

Bansko in Summer — My Favourite Ideas

Many people associate Bansko mainly with snow and the ski season.

I also love Bansko in summer.

In fact, when I am here with my child, summer is one of my favourite times — the days are long, the air is cooler and there are plenty of ways to walk, play and rest without having to plan everything in advance.

For me, that is one of the loveliest things about summer here.

You can have a plan for the day.

Or you can simply wake up, look towards the mountains and decide what you feel like doing.

A morning in the mountains

I especially love summer mornings in Pirin.

The air is cool, everything is green and even a simple walk in nature can become a little adventure for a child.

You do not need to be an experienced hiker or set yourself an ambitious goal.

Sometimes it is enough just to go out, walk for a while, stop for a break and let your child notice everything around them.

Those are the moments I like most.

No rushing.

No schedule.

Just the mountains and time together.

Pool time and a trip to Dobrinishte

When I am with my child, I also love slower summer days.

One of our favourite combinations is a few hours by the pool followed by a trip to Dobrinishte.

A little time in the water, some play and rest, and then a change of scenery — nature and an easy walk.

For me, it is a lovely balance because the day has enough in it without becoming over-planned.

That is exactly what I enjoy most when travelling with a child: not rushing from one place to the next and not turning a holiday into a list of things to tick off.

Sometimes a pool, a walk and time together are more than enough for a really good summer day.

For a little more fun — Rila Fun Park

When we feel like something a little more playful, Rila Fun Park is one of the places we would happily visit again.

It is the kind of family outing where the little ones get their adventure and the adults can enjoy the experience with them.

For me, the best family places are exactly like that — not simply “something for the child”, but something you share together.

Bansko’s town park

You do not even need to leave Bansko to have a calm, easy day.

The town park is one of the places we like for a walk, some play and simply a little time outdoors.

Sometimes a few hours there are all you need.

No complicated organising.

No driving.

No racing from one attraction to another.

And sometimes that is exactly what makes a family holiday feel like a holiday.

And some time for Bansko itself

I always leave time for the town itself too.

The Old Town, the little streets, coffee, somewhere nice to eat and those moments when we simply wander without a particular destination.

Bansko has a completely different mood in summer.

It is quieter.

You have more time to notice it.

And you discover places you might hurry past during the busy winter season.

Do not plan every hour

If I could give only one piece of advice for a summer holiday in Bansko with a child, it would be this:

do not plan every hour.

Leave at least one day without a schedule.

In the morning, look at the weather.

See what mood your child is in.

See how you feel too.

Then decide.

The mountains?

Pool time and Dobrinishte?

Rila Fun Park?

The park?

Or simply a slow morning, coffee and a few hours with no plan at all?

Quite often, those unplanned days turn out to be the best ones.

And perhaps that is exactly why I love Bansko so much in summer.

You do not have to be “doing something” all the time to have a lovely day here.

Sometimes it is enough to be together, with the mountains close by and nowhere you need to rush to.
